I love SketchUp's native tools because you can do so many things with them! However, sometimes you need an extension to help you finish your model a little faster and a little easier. The following are some of my favorite general-purpose extensions for SketchUp. These extensions (with perhaps one exception) can be added to almost any workflow to create better models faster. Selection Toys (Thomthom). EVERYONE should have this extension. It allows you to filter your selections, making it easier to choose specific parts for your model with one click. Bezier Curve Tool (SketchUp Team). I draw a lot of arcs, but many times I also need to draw a curve that is not a symmetrical arc. When that happens, I love Bezier Curve's simple interface. Curic Mirror (Curic). I know I can rotate an axis, or move the scale to - to have a reflection of the selected geometry, but Curic Mirror's one-click interface saves time and headaches. Curviloft (Fredo). Some shapes are easier to create than others with SketchUp's native tools.

You can achieve smooth, fluid geometry using arcs, push/pull, and scaling, but sometimes you need to get a compound curve shape with a single click. That's what Curviloft is for. A great way to sweep between curves or skin line geometry. NOTE: It is necessary to have LibFredo to run Curviloft. Weld (Smustard team). Weld takes care of joining multiple lines to curves with a single click, a simple feature for which you need an extension. Solid Inspector (Thomthom). Whenever possible, I like to make sure my models are solid. Solid Inspector is the easiest Sudan Email List and fastest way to make sure that's the case. PushLine (Denis B). Wait, an extension that lets you move edges the same way the Push/Pull tool lets you move surfaces? What more could you want? Push/Pull node (Fredo). Push/Pull only works on one surface at a time. If you have more than one set of connected, smoothed surfaces that need to be moved, then you need Node Push/Pull.

NOTE: LibFredo  is required to run Node Push/Pull. Sandbox Tools (SketchUp Team). Yes, I know they are installed in SketchUp, but it is an extension. It's a great set of tools that took me too long to appreciate. SubD (Thomthom). When you couple SubD with the Vertex tools and the Quad Face tools , you turn SketchUp into a smooth quad surface geometry generator. While this set of tools doesn't deliver on the "workflow-friendly" promise I mentioned in the introduction, they take SketchUp into a whole new D modeling workflow. There you have them! Some of my favorite extensions that you should know about. The best of all is that, with one or two exceptions, they are completely free. Visit the links below to take advantage of the extensions and let us know which extension is your favorite in the forum . Add extensions to SketchUp
