Pozuelo de Calatrava pays tribute to the lace-making woman

This Sunday, July the "XIII Meeting of Lace Makers" was held in the Multipurpose Hall of Pozuelo de Calatrava, programmed within the framework of the Edition of the Cultural Week, which paid tribute once again to the woman lace maker and to this ancient artisanal tradition of the towns of our region and province.

A meeting organized by the Association of "Our Lady of the Saints" of de , in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Youth of the town's City Indonesia Email List Council, which was attended by from the associations of Ciudad Real, the "Our Lady of Rosario" Association of Valenzuela de , of Torralba de , of the Association of the Group of de , of the "Our Lady of Rosario" Association of de , of the Association of Housewives of del Rey, the "Amigas del Bolillo" of , and the Housewives Association "El Cristo" of , and in which they lived together for more than two hours of fraternization around this artisanal art as It is bobbin lace.

More than lace makers were welcomed by the Councilor for Culture, María Jesús Alcázar, thanking them for their presence at this event that year after year brings together a large number of participants, making this meeting one of the most consolidated in our province.For his part, the mayor, Julián Triguero, reiterated once again his gratitude, and that of the Pozuela City Council, for the tireless work that the Pozuela association carries out so that this art of bobbin lace continues to endure over time, not letting it fall into the forgotten, despite the modernization and mechanization that the textile sector suffers.



In the same way, he praised and paid an emotional tribute to the lace-making woman who throughout time has dedicated her life to this artisanal work, and who many of us still remember from our childhood, seeing groups of women in our streets with their pads, their yellowish chopped, with their turned and carved wooden bobbins, in a millimetrically lit dance of needles with colorful rounded heads, on rubber worn by the incessant ringing of the bobbins laboriously worked by those dexterous hands of the women of our land.   

The event concluded with a snack and the delivery of gifts to all the participants as a souvenir of this event to which, once again, the councilor of culture invited all the attendees to a future edition of this twinning meeting of the women lace makers of our province.
