Comics artist JongBeom Lee remembers laying the groundwork for the comics industry with the help of D modeling software. His debut wouldn't have been possible without mastering SketchUp and developing his comic series Dr. Frost , which caught the attention of television producers. Passionate about storytelling and shared innovative workflow, he revolutionized the Korean comics industry with advanced technology. All media courtesy of JongBeom Lee , unless otherwise noted. Share with us your journey and tell us if in your early days you struggled with the idea of being “successful.” I grew up reading comics and started drawing when I was eight years old. I didn't dare to show my drawings to anyone until I was in primary school. My friends fought over my Dragonball drawings the first time they saw them! Success with my friends gave me a lot of security, because my parents were more critical. That confidence allowed me to think about becoming a comic book artist. It is a rare ambition.

I didn't seek professional recommendations from anyone and focused on my art. Satisfaction in my art motivated me to keep going. At first I had a clear feeling that I was missing something important in my stories: contextual information, authentic characters, and developed plots. When it came time to choose a college major, I chose psychology. My undergrad became a means to analyze humans and culture, all in order to develop interesting plots in my comics. My journey began with Webtoon (digital comics designed to be read on smartphones). It wasn't Germany Email List all a bed of roses, but it wasn't a huge struggle either because making comics is what I do every day. As the fortnights passed, he sent new episodes to the publishers. I was rejected more than times, but I finally got a call from a publisher after the th episode! Making money was not the priority; I wanted to distinguish myself and be known for my work. Most new artists lack security, but think they can be financially successful; most will give up before they get too far with that mentality. JongBeom's second comic series, whose fourth season recently ended, features the protagonist, Dr. Frost, a genius and psychologist who cannot feel certain emotions such as sympathy or affection. Through research, case studies, and guidance from his mentor, he advises and walks the journey of understanding himself.

I believe my role as an artist is to expand and enrich the lives of my readers. As a storyteller, it's a fantastic feeling to get my readers to "meet" someone other than themselves and get out of their everyday routine. It's not common to use SketchUp in comics. How did you start using SketchUp in your work? During the publishing era, many people were unable to debut as comic book artists; They had to abandon their dreams because it was too difficult to draw detailed and realistic background shots. There were some background artists who worked with publishers, but I couldn't pay one at the time. I was also unable to achieve a satisfactory level of experience, even after a few years of training. I noticed a friend of mine was using SketchUp for his architecture project and thought the program would be a perfect solution for me. SketchUp can make D drawings, but orbit in D. It was amazing! I downloaded SketchUp right away and set about learning how to use it. At that time there were a few tutorials; I started making models with a drum set, a saxophone, a car or a backpack, anything I liked but couldn't afford.
