Could it be that the secret to longevity is having two birthdays a year? Considering Queen Elizabeth II, perhaps yes. Jokes aside, the Queen of England actually has two birthdays, but it's obvious that her birth date is just one. The sovereign was born on April 21, 1926, but she also celebrates her birthday in June, on the second weekend. We will explain the reasons below! ONE BIRTH, TWO BIRTHDAYS The double birthday celebration is neither new nor exclusive to Elizabeth II. The tradition began in 1748, by decision of King George II, whose birthday was in November, a month with a delicate and unstable climate, already cold and rainy.

He then decided to celebrate his birthday in the summer, with a military parade, as reported by the BBC. This is how the custom began and continues to this day.  If she celebrates her birthday C Level Contact List twice, what are those celebrations actually like? The monarch usually spends April 21st with her family, in a more private manner. However, it is not a date that remains blank. A 41-gun salute is fired in Hyde Park, another with 21 shots in Windsor Great Park and another with 62 shots in the Tower of London, as revealed by the BBC. In June, she celebrates with the entire population. The second Saturday of the sixth month of the year is traditionally the day reserved for Trooping the Color, and the day may vary depending on the year.

Trooping the Color is a large parade held on The Mall in London. It usually has more than 1400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians in a true spectacle, which attracts the entire population. Members of the royal family are usually part of the parade, including the queen, who in the past participated in the event riding her own horse, but now travels in a carriage. Most members also go in carriages and meet on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch together the Air Force presentation, which colors the sky with the colors of the British flag. In 2020, celebrations were suspended or reduced due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For 2021, plans were already in place to cancel the parties, which was reinforced out of respect for the mourning of the death of Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II.
